Personal Philosophy on Technology in Education

In the contemporary era, technology has seamlessly integrated itself into various facets of our lives, with education being no exception. The role of technology in education has evolved from being a mere tool to a pivotal component that shapes the way students learn, and educators teach.

Purpose of Technology in Education

The advent of technology in educational settings has brought about a paradigm shift in the way knowledge is imparted and received. As highlighted by National Public School (2023), technology has revolutionized the educational landscape by making learning more accessible, engaging, and interactive. This integration has not only democratized education by providing access to a plethora of online resources but has also personalized the learning experience. With the aid of technology, educators can now tailor lesson plans to cater to individual learning styles, pace, and interests, thereby ensuring that each student receives instruction in a manner most conducive to their understanding.

Furthermore, the interactive nature of modern technological tools, such as digital devices and online platforms, has transformed traditional passive learning into an active, engaging experience. These platforms facilitate virtual discussions, quizzes, and games, enhancing students' retention capabilities and honing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills (National Public School, 2023).

From a professional standpoint, the inclusion of technology in education is not just a trend but a necessity. In a world that is becoming increasingly digital, educators have a responsibility to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to navigate this digital landscape effectively.

Biblical Defense for the Incorporation of Technology

The Bible, while not explicitly mentioning modern technology, provides principles that can guide our approach to its use in education. Proverbs 22:6 (New International Version Bible, 2011) states, "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it." This scripture underscores the importance of providing children with the best tools and resources, including technology, to set them on the right path. Additionally, Colossians 3:23 mentions, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." This verse can be interpreted as an encouragement for educators to utilize all available resources, including technology, to provide the best education possible. Additionally, 1 Corinthians 9:22b says, "I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some." In the context of education, this can mean adapting to modern methods, including the use of technology, to reach and teach students effectively.

Personal Approach to Technology in Lessons

Given the undeniable benefits and the professional and biblical obligations, my stance is clear: Technology is an indispensable tool in education. My approach to teaching will involve a sensible blend of traditional and technological methods. While the foundational principles of education remain unchanged, the methods of delivery can and should evolve with the times. By integrating technology into my lessons, I aim to create a dynamic, interactive, and inclusive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of all students.
